December 5th 2008 – Maintenance Checks

Well the good news from here at the North Pole is that Santa passed the competency tests yesterday, it was a bit tense for a while but Tony and his team were very happy with the way that Santa and the reindeer performed and have issued a statement of competency for Father Christmas.

We are seeing the workshop operated by the Head Elf Mechanic Fred today, who you will remember did not have any maintenance records for the sleigh.  I am sure that he has maintained it to a exceptional level, but if it is not written down I will have a hard job proving it was done.

We will be putting a formal maintenance planner up and establishing a set of files so we will have records going forward from here.  The bad news for Fred is that I have insisted on the sleigh being serviced again and this service being documented.  Fred took this news rather badly and has locked the workshop door and is not letting anyone in.

It is so nice being as popular as we are, you would think we were trying to cancel Christmas rather than save it.  It is lucky that I have kept the catering Elves on side or I would be starved by now.
