December 11th 2008 – Travel Documents

Did you know that Father Christmas has to ensure his travel permits are in order for all the countries he visits on Christmas Eve?  No, neither did I.

At least he only has to lodge the paperwork with the countries and does not have to run the gauntlet of immigration, can you imagine the delays that would be caused by Santa having to queue at each border?

Also the reindeer have to get jabs to allow passage without quarantine, based on my experiences with the reindeer I feel very sorry for the vet who has to deliver these jabs.  Who would have thought that reindeer could bear grudges for such a long period of time.

Anyway, back to the travel permits, because the Health and Safety Elf was plotting to cancel Christmas no-one has completed the documents yet.  This means that my team and a team of elves are spending the day on the phones and faxes calling all the immigration departments and animal departments all round the world to rush the paperwork through to enable Christmas to happen.

So today is going to be a very busy multilingual day, I shall let you know how they get on.
