December 15th 2008 – Seatbelt Stress

Who would have thought that a seatbelt could cause so much much stress and trouble.  On Saturday I had Fred the Chief Elf Mechanic fit a seat belt to the sleigh to keep Santa safe and comply with the UK legislation, but when Father Christmas found out you would have thought I had fitted wheels to his sleigh.

He argued that he didn’t need a seatbelt as he runs a multi-drop operation and is a safe driver, but I had to remind him that the multi-drop exemption only applies when there is less than 50yds between stops and that would only apply whilst Santa is travelling down each road, but would not apply when he is travelling between towns and cities or continents for that matter.

I don’t know about the children counting down the days to Christmas, but with the stress this is causing I am beginning to take sneaky peeks at the advent calender too.
