What Fleet Risk Consultants actually do
I have been writing here for the past six months and I rarely go into detail about the types of things that Fleet Risk Consultants actually does for it’s clients.
I have given you all plenty of hints and tips and some insights into how we help our clients, but not specifically detailed the services we offer. This is not going to be a regular appearance of a blatant plug, but I thought it would be useful for you as readers to have it now.
- Risk Policies
We undertake the preparation and implementation of a comprehensive Occupational Road Risk Policy, for each individual client to ensure that they comply with current legislation. This includes the requirements of the Corporate Manslaughter Legislation. We also provide an on-call facility to answer any questions that drivers or managers may have.
- Enforcement Liaison
Fleet Risk Consultants act on behalf of its clients as their Enforcement Liaison team. This allows Fleet Risk Consultants to answer questions posed by investigating officers of the Police, HSE, VOSA and other enforcement bodies on vehicle matters. This utilises our skills to obtain the best outcome available for our clients.
- Driver Document Checks
We spend time every six months with our clients checking the relevant driving documents of the drivers. It is also be good practice to check 10% of drivers every year with DVLA’s database to ensure that the system of paper checks is working.
- Auditing
We will visit you once a year to audit the systems we have developed with you to ensure ongoing compliance with the policy. The audit will comprise a review of paperwork, vehicle histories and random vehicle checks.
- Collision Investigation
All collisions should be investigated at one level or another. We review all accidents on a monthly, six monthly or annual basis with a view to recommendations being fed into the management stream.
Serious and Fatal collisions can be investigated and managed fully by our team of collision investigators.
- Driver Recruitment Policy
We work with our clients in the preparation of a driver recruitment policies to ensure that our clients are employing the best and safest candidates available. This would involve pre-screening of applicant licence details, followed by assessment of skills, followed by interview. Successful candidates would have to pass all sections to before employment.
- Operator Licensing
We advise our clients on the appropriate operator licence for their business operation and assist in the completion of the correct paperwork. This can also include regular audits to ensure continuing compliance with the regulations.
- Dangerous Goods
Any business transporting Dangerous Goods is required by law to take the advice of a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor. This advisor will ensure that you comply with the regulations and that the appropriate annual and other reports are properly completed. Our team of consultants includes at least one Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor at all times.
- Fleet Management
The issues surrounding the management of a fleet can be quite daunting, we advise on the best solution for your business in a clear manner. We also have contacts in the fleet industry should you need to source vehicles from our network of providers.
