Are businesses getting it wrong by spending less money?
There is some anecdotal evidence that some companies are reducing their spending on their vehicles in the mistaken belief that the are going to save money. Now I am all for making savings where possible, but if you do not know the best way to manage the vehicle costs, then you may end up by spending more than you think.
A typical business reaction is to extend the maintenance intervals for their vehicles beyond those recommended by the manufacturers or as required by the Traffic Commissioner. The problem with type of reaction is this, planned maintenance is there to ensure that vehicles do not have costly breakdowns or worse still they have a catastrophic failure that causes an incident.
My advice is consult a fleet professional before you go and make the wrong decisions about how to save money, because getting it wrong may cost you in more ways than you can possibly imagine.
