Tyres – Should I be depressed or worried?
I was listening to a presentation by Paul Jones of Kwik Fit Fleet on Wednesday and as a result I am not sure whether I should be worried or downright depressed.
Kwik Fit Fleet manage some 1.5 million vehicles for their clients and this means they have some meaningful data with which to draw certain statistics and some of these figures are really rather bad.
They have found that between 20-25% of tyres replaced were below the legal minimum of 1.6mm tread depth, which is a bad enough figure. But when you consider that the drivers of these vehicles are not paying for the tyres themselves it makes the figure even worse.
I urge everyone to check their tyres on a monthly basis or get someone like Kwik Fit Fleet to do it for you (If you are a fleet they will do it for free). All that is keeping you on the road are those small black discs with a tiny contact patch at the bottom.
Is it worth the Gamble?
