For our 200th article it seems fitting to talk about a new minister.
I was astounded to see that this is our 200th article here and I must say slightly less surprised that we are getting yet another transport minister and a secretary of state for transport.
I find myself in agreement with the BVRLA and the AA, in that the almost annual changes in this key role are preventing the country from having a coherent and successful approach to the movement of goods and people via the many modes of transportation.
The teams of people working in the department for transport are very good at their jobs, but a lack of clear and continued leadership is bound to have an effect over time. We need to improve the road network, develop the public transport systems and utilise our waterways better as we are failing to deliver too often.
Let us all hope that both Lord Adonis and Sadiq Khan stick around long enough to make a difference for the better.
