Even we have bad days, sometimes.
Last Friday was not a great day for me, well to be fair it appears to have started earlier in the week. On Monday I noticed a small amount of blackness on the nearside front alloy wheel on my Landcruiser, but the vehicle was driving normally and the fuel economy was unchanged. On Thursday I noticed that the handling was every so slightly off at slow speeds and it felt like a brake was binding somewhere on the vehicle, so when I stopped I went around the vehicle with my hand against the tyre and the Front Nearside Tyre was considerably hotter than the other wheels.
So Friday morning was a trip directly to Kwik Fit to get the brakes checked out, this is a FREE check by the way. The result of the check was that two of the pistons in the brake caliper had seized and this had caused the inner brake pad to bind with the disc. This had caused a excessive wear on the pad and disc.
This meant that the vehicle was off the road until the repair could be completed, this meant sourcing the correct parts and fitting them. The guys at Kwik Fit managed to locate the parts very quickly, but they could not get them to the branch until later that afternoon.
This left me unable to get to a meeting for lunch as I had no transport. I put a call into Enterprise Rent-a-car more in hope than expectation as it was now 10am and I had to be at my meeting at 12 noon and it was a good 45 minute journey. I am pleased to report that the team at Enterprise pulled out all the strings and sourced me a car at very short notice which allowed me to get to my meeting and back for my Landcruiser later that afternoon.
So even though things do go wrong, if you have the right support in place you can still get the job done.
I have already thanked the guys at Kwik Fit and Enterprise privately, but public credit is due to these excellent companies.
