I spend a huge amount of my time trying to get the message across to drivers and business owners about the importance of properly managing the use of vehicles and road risks, yesterday morning I was invited to sit in on a presentation by the Staffordshire ‘Crash Course’ team who delivered what was in my opinion the most hard hitting presentation I have ever sat through.
The team are four individuals with personal stories drawn from the Police, Fire and Rescue and Victim Support and they use, without apology, real stories of real people (similar to you and me) to deliver the most powerful of messages.
Only the most cold-hearted of people would fail to be moved by the stories and pictures used, but and this is quite a big but, how long will the people who sat through the presentation retain those important lessons?
Because of what I do I almost always travel with a ‘what-if’ attitude, but if you are a builder, salesman or business manager will you remember the reasons why you should concentrate, not use your phone, plan ahead etc?
I am not sure of the answer, but what I am sure about is this.
We MUST do whatever we can to reduce the 3,000 wasted lives each year and the hundreds of thousands who are injured whilst travelling along our roads.
